ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Jessie!

I’m a writer, explorer, registered dietitian, and mom of three young kids.

I write award-winning books about brave kids exploring fantasy worlds, girls who love science, boys with hidden talents, and friendships among kids of all backgrounds.

Looking for food and nutrition tips? Find out how I became a registered dietitian who adores chocolate cake here.

Proud to be biracial, I’m equally at home chowing down on dan tat or apple pie. My aim is to celebrate the unique and diverse experiences of being half-Chinese through writing and cooking.

Three fun facts about me:

(1) I’ve played the violin since I was six years old, and I’m currently attempting to teach myself the erhu (emphasis on “attempting”).

(2) My greatest accomplishment over the past few years is teaching my two older kids to read.

(3) As a kid, I wanted to be an astronomer. That dream carried me through a degree in physics before I discovered my passion for food and nutrition.

Tell me about yourself!

I love meeting new people and learning their stories. Send me an email with three fun facts about yourself. Or your life story. Or what you ate for breakfast. Any and all thoughts are welcome.

I can’t wait to meet you!
